Fiere collection contender for Saltire Scottish Book of the Year Award

Jackie Kay’s beautiful, warm and characteristically heartfelt collection FIERE has been shortlisted for the Saltire Scottish Book of the Year Award 2011.

Jackie Kay’s new collection is a lyric counterpart to her memoir, Red Dust Road, the extraordinary story of the search for her Nigerian and Highland birth-parents; but it is also a moving book in its own right, and a deep enquiry into all forms of human friendship.

FIERE was also been shortlisted for the Costa Poetry award alongside Picador poets Sean O’Brien and Carol Ann Duffy.
