While writing her debut novel, Liz de Jager fostered her love of YA and genre fiction by developing the popular My Favourite Books review blog. This ran for seven years and enabled her to gain a unique insight into the publishing industry. She grew up in South Africa and now lives and works in the UK. She lives in London with her husband Mark.
@Bang2write Try @EmmaPass & @TeriTerryWrites _<- they've both done dystopian / post apocalyptic books! Also: they're GOOD.

Page proof queries are done! I send it all back to Pan Macmillan Editorial tomorrow. I'm just tweaking my acknowledgements (read: stressing about them) and then I'll email those off. So, in other words: the Blackhart trilogy is done (unless there are more queries to sort out)

The first stop in my blog tour is up - http://www.serendipityreviews.co.uk/2014/02/secret-serendipity-seven-with-liz-de.html? - Secret Serendipity Seven - seven things about Banished and me you never knew. Or possibly will be better off not knowing.
Unexpected review from the tough cookies over at Fantasy Faction for Banished: http://fantasy-faction.com/2014/banished-by-liz-de-jager#utm_source=feed&utm_medium=feed&utm_campaign=feed?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter - to be mentioned in the same sentence as Emma Newman and Mark Chadbourn's superb writing? Well, colour me VERY happy indeed.
Got a lovely surprise today. A kindly person reviewed Banished on the Guardian website. They said some lovely things, they said some things that made me ponder. But all in all, a bloody review. Of. My. Book. http://www.theguardian.com/childrens-books-site/2013/dec/16/review-banished-liz-de-jager
Oh hello, pretty little extract of Banished - two chapters on Tor.com's website - http://www.tor.com/stories/2013/12/banished-excerpt-liz-de-jager
An existing interest: exploded - 6 days ago
I’ve always been a journal person. I’ve always written down story ideas, made notes and such, but I’ve never done it creatively before, or kept diaries or planners or even kept that crucial dream diary by the side of my bed. I never quite grasped the possibility of journalling, of creating art-journals or anything like […]

Hello mateys! August really is one of the busiest months when it comes to writerly eventsand things so here’s a bit of a run down what I’m up to. Please note that all the highlighted bits will open in new linked pages if you click on them. Oh, but before I get to that, allow […]
Writing: World Building - 3 months ago
I’m around 67,000 words into what I fondly call my Batshit Fantasy Idea™. In theory I’m dong well but I feel I’m not doing well enough as I should be streaking ahead with this as I have practically got all the time in the world, and then some to get this first draft done so […]
The importance of friends… - 5 months ago
Hello folks I’ve decided to pop along and talk to you today about the importance of friends. I’ve talked about this before briefly but really, I’d like to iterate a bit more. Firstly there’s Sarah Bryars. I’ve known Sarah for, wow, I’m not sure how long. But it’s been at least…since around 2006 or […]
No excuse! - 6 months ago
Did you notice the last time I blogged was August 2015? And we’re halfway through April 2016 already. Absolutely zero excuse and I am going to try and be a better communicator and stuff. Plus, I’m doing a few new things with the site & trying to find the best new template for it, so […]
