Picador to publish Yes Please, a memoir by Amy Poehler

08 July 2014

After a closely-fought auction, Picador Editorial Director Francesca Main has acquired UK and Commonwealth rights to Yes Please, the highly anticipated memoir of actress, comedian, writer, director and producer Amy Poehler. The deal with Picador was struck with WME, 3Arts and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern LLP.

A memoir in essays – and a philosophy to live by – Yes Please offers a big, juicy stew of personal stories, funny bits on sex, love, friendship and parenthood, and real life advice (some useful, some not so much).

Francesca Main said: ‘The mere possibility of publishing Amy Poehler sent the entire company into a frenzy, so we couldn’t be more thrilled to have acquired her first book. Yes Please is glorious – inspiring, smart, down-to-earth, endlessly warm and of course incredibly funny.’

Amy Poehler was a cast member on Saturday Night Live from 2001 to 2009, where she was nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. She currently stars as Leslie Knope in the NBC series Parks and Recreation, for which she won a Golden Globe and has been nominated for another four Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actress. She will also star next summer in the highly anticipated Pixar film Inside Out. Poehler splits her time between New York and Los Angeles, and this is her first book.

Picador will publish Yes Please in hardback on 6 November 2014.
