Tim Winton on heresy, landscape and the virtual

07 July 2014

Back in May, Tim Winton spoke to fellow author William Fiennes about his writing, including his latest novel Eyrie, at the Newcastle Centre for Literary Arts. It's a wonderful conversation to listen in on: Tim talks about the liberation of writing about his ownculturally youthful Western Australia without the pressure of a canon, about the way we have "been able to manipulate nature so successfully that now we are subject to [it] in a way that we never thought of", and about the "strange abstract existence we're in". Well worth alisten!
