Macmillan Children’s Books is so proud to announce that the uniquely talented writer Frances Hardinge has won the Costa Children’s Book Award for her extraordinary novel The Lie Tree.

The winners of each category were announced on BBC Radio 4 Front Row last night, and the category judges described The Lie Tree as a 'dark, sprawling, fiercely clever novel'.

The Lie Tree is also nominated for the CILIP Carnegie Medal, shortlisted for the Guardian Children’s Fiction Prize and the Independent Bookseller's Week Award (Children’s), and was The Sunday Times Children’s Book of the Year.

The overall winner of the Costa Book Award will be announced on Tuesday 26 January 2016.

If you haven’t already discovered the wonder that is Frances Hardinge then let 2016 be the year that you enter an imagination like no other. As Patrick Ness so eloquently puts it, ‘Everyone should read Frances Hardinge. Everyone. Right now.’
