the little red launch took place on author/illustrator bethan woollvin’s birthday at waterstones in brighton – bethan’s new home and the perfect place to celebrate not only her own birthday but that of her very first book!

our publicity manager bea cross has an eye for the little details that make a good party excellent, and she and i arranged for lots of special touches to dot around the room: show cards displaying bethan’s artwork, red-themed food (beetroot dip, strawberries, chilli crisps, salsa, slightly tenuous pimento-stuffed olives), gingham-lined wicker baskets and a giant cake adorned with a fondant reproduction of the little red cover – a showstopper to top all showstoppers.

the red theme continued in our birthday present to bethan – a bright red chanel lipstick. with a scarlet colour scheme, owls aplenty, friends, family, bloggers and booze, the little red launch was the perfect way to welcome into the world bethan’s exquisite book.
