Macmillan Children’s Books is to publish the new poetry anthology by Allie Esiri this September. A Poem for Every Night of the Year, acquired by Editorial Directory of Non-Fiction and Poetry Gaby Morgan, is Allie Esiri’s third poetry anthology and follows the hugely successful poetry anthology and app iF Poems, which was included in The Sunday Times Best 500 Apps in 2012 and The Spectator's Top Ten iBook’s in 2011. Her second anthology, The Love Book, included poetry readings from Helena Bonham Carter, Tom Hiddleston, Damian Lewis, and Helen McCrory.

The beautiful hardback edition is a collection of 366 poems, aimed for the whole family to share, with each individual poem having a connection to the corresponding date in the book – from celebrating Diwali and Ramadan to historical moments and figures like Rosa Parks and Amelia Earhart.  It contains a full spectrum of poetry from familiar favourites to brand-new voices. Alfred, Lord Tennyson, W.B. Yeats, A.A. Milne and Christina Rossetti sit alongside Roger McGough, Maya Angelou, Kate Tempest and Benjamin Zephaniah.

To celebrate A Poem for Every Night of the Year the National Theatre and Allie Esiri are bringing together a night of poetry recitals. Special guests including Helena Bonham Carter and Helen McCrory, who is currently starring at the National Theatre’s The Deep Blue Sea, will join Allie Esiri at the Olivier Theatre on Friday 25th November. Tickets cost £6 and go on sale Tuesday 21st June at 8.30am. A Poem for Every Night of the Year publishes on 8th September 2016 priced £14.99.
