In the pause after the poem's first word you can feel the clamouring of panicked voices as the passengers hear that first almighty crash of iceberg on ship. And in that image of the piano, caught out mid-song and now drowning in a lungful of water, is the helplessness of all on board.

Titanic the movie is over three hours long. Samantha Wynne-Rhydderch's poem is just three lines. If I can be allowed to compare a film to a poem, this piano's unplayed notes drown out Celine Dion, Leo and Kate any day.

I hope you like it!
