Picador poet Rachael Boast has won the Felix Dennis Prize for Best First Collection.

The winners were announced last night at Somerset House in London.

Andrew Motion, chair of this year's judges, said that Sidereal is 'one of the most complete and accomplished first collections to have appeared in several years'.

The judges described Sidereal as 'extraordinarily accomplished, wise without being pompous, compassionate without being sentimental'.
