Friday poem: 'Valentine'
by John Glenday
suck my red heart white, I will, because I love you, bless me,
o, and here, I will say, see I am back, in spite of you to bring
a gift I grew, it was busy in me once, filled the red branches
with blood, knocking like hope, beat time to my life’s decline,
then followed after in its way, and did its duty.
