Life and death in London's hospitals

Ben Judah, author of, This Is London, meets the agency carers, at least 60 per cent of whom are migrants, managing night shifts, temporary contracts and abuse in the capital's hospitals. 

'And I went to him, 'Hello, good morning, sir,' because I like to say good morning sir and shake their hands. Most people don’t shake their hands, and the reasons I shake their hands is I want them to see me as a friend. Because at some time in their life they would have worked in an office, doing business or something, and it is like greeting them for the morning . . . This is my way of doing my job.'
