The Picador Love Shack is going to Latitude

25 June 2013

Literary Match Making: Can your favourite book find you your perfect partner?

Does his love of Cormac McCarthy help you read him like a book? Would you run a mile from a super-fan of American Psycho? Does her love of Bridget Jones’s Diary scream needy and desperate or sweet and approachable?

The Picador Love Shack will be running an onsite dating service all through the weekend. Potential partners will pick from a list of essential novels and the Latitude line-up. We will find you festival dates based on cultural compatibility – so if you fancy meeting someone new at Latitude we will help you bond over book and help you meet up at a performance you both want to see.

There will also be intimate readings with authors, including novelist Stuart Evers (author of If This Is Home) and social historian and synesthetic Pete Brown (author of Shakespeare’s Local) exploring  which drinks are the perfect partners for particular books and workshops on how to reinvigorate a relationship or make people fall in love with you based on the work of Professor Richard Wiseman, the UK’s only Professor for the Public Understanding of Psychology, creative consultant to Derren Brown and author of international bestsellers including 59 Seconds and Rip It Up. Or just pop along and fall in love with a book – there will be a full library of new and classic Picador books to discover plus a free gifting service to send a favourite book to one you love.

It must be love . . .
