HAPPY BIRTHDAY DOUGLAS ADAMS
Today would have been Douglas Adams' 60th birthday, a man who was held in great affection, leaving a great legacy of work, and is much missed.
His birthday will be widely celebrated, with a party in his honour at London’s Hammersmith Apollo .
Contributors at the event include Stephen Fry, Clive Anderson, Robin Ince, Jon Culshaw , Stephen Mangan, Sanjeev Bhaskar and Terry Jones, who paid tribute to Adams in this BBC article on Friday, saying Douglas was “such a brilliant writer . . . It was the ideas. He was brilliant at reversing our perceptions of things - at turning them upside down.”
In the lead up to Adams' birthday, Pan Macmillan has just published an eBook omnibus edition of the Hitchhiker’s Guide series, THE HITCHHIKER'S GUIDE TO THE GALAXY: THE TRILOGY OF FIVE.
The Hitchhiker's Guide radio play scripts are also on tour from June, so we still seem to be living in a galaxy where the Number 42 is both relevant and meaningful. I hope Douglas Adams would have been amused.
