This was recorded by his friend Sean Murphy, who was good enough to record the reading and Q&A session.
Sworn in Steel is just as exciting, gritty and squash-buckling as book one. It’s an adventurous tale of Drothe, set against the backdrop of two shadowy cities, both riddled with mayhem. He’s an anti-hero who tries to do the right thing while balancing the complementary occupations of spy and thief (there weren’t many career options round his way). Then he stumbles upon secrets of empire, magic and a brotherhood of immortal swordsman . . . Brent Weeks said book one was ‘an unalloyed pleasure: a fast moving, funny, twisting tale’. He also said of Hulick ‘there’s a new talent in the game’, and we hope you agree with Brent’s words of wisdom there.

'With Sworn in Steel he has managed to find hidden depths in the world he created . . . The wit and the outlook present in Among Thieves continues just as strongly here and, through Drothe’s eyes, Hulick paints a vivid picture of a beautiful yet deadly city . . . an engaging and interesting read'

'With these books Douglas Hulick and Brian Mcclellan go from debut authors to professionals with careers ahead of them . . . there is a narrative joy within their work'

'A sequel that is even bigger, better and packed with more fun than the original ... Douglas Hulick takes the idea of “something interesting must happen in every chapter” and takes that to the max.
