embassytown2_1Launching our new Tor UK blog in 2012, it's on the back of a fantastic year in 2011 for all things science fictional and fantastical. And this year is looking pretty triumphant too from where we are sitting. One reason for this is that we now have our own blog at Tor UK to showcase the work of our wonderful authors and to pass on news and views on all things genre. 2011 gave us all much to celebrate. There was a major SF/F retrospective with Out of this World at the British Library and the John Martin: Apocalypse exhibition at Tate Britain. There was also an explosion in genre publishing, with four major publishing houses starting up new genre lists. And let’s not forget more Harry Potter films and more instalments in the Twilight film franchise. 2012 is set to deliver even more delights on the big screen, with THE HUNGER GAMES, THE HOBBIT and THE AVENGERS among others. The small screen will also deliver, with top-class from the True Blood TV franchise, the Walking Dead zombie series and George R.R. Martin’s compulsive Game of Thrones adaptation.

2012 Highlights from Tor UK include EMBASSYTOWN (paperback) and RAILSEA (hardback) by China Miéville, SWITCHED, TORN and ASCEND by kindle million-copy bestseller Amanda Hocking, and a new hardback from Peter F. Hamilton. And our debuts include a fantastic new novel by the talented Paul Cornell and the heart-racingly brilliant STORMDANCER by Jay Kristoff. That’s just for starters …

So, watch this space for more news, exciting-ness, giveaways and cover wows. Here’s to a great year ahead.
