To celebrate the release of Florence Foster Jenkins on Blu-ray and DVD we're giving three lucky readers the chance to win a copy of the film on DVD as well as a copy of Jasper Rees' extraordinary book, which inspired the film.

'People may say that I couldn't sing. But no one can say that I didn't sing.'

Despite lacking pitch, rhythm or tone, Florence Foster Jenkins became one of America's best-known sopranos, celebrated for her unique recordings and her sell-out concert at Carnegie Hall.

Directed by Stephen Frears (Philomena, The Queen), and starring Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant, the film, based on Jasper Rees' heart-warming biography, tells the inspirational true story of the eponymous New York heiress who obsessively pursued her dream of becoming a great singer.

The voice Florence (Streep) heard in her head was divine, but to the rest of the world it was hilariously awful. At private recitals, her devoted husband and manager, St Clair Bayfield (Grant) managed to protect Florence from the truth. But when Florence decided to give her first public concert at New York’s Carnegie Hall, St Clair realised he had perhaps bitten off more than he could chew.

Florence Foster Jenkins’ life story is a joyful affirmation of the human spirit, the power of music and the passion of amateurs everywhere.
