Women Poets Through the Ages with Allie Esiri
Allie Esiri and guest actors will take us on a journey through women’s poetry, highlighting key moments and celebrating female poets from Sappho to Kate Tempest. An inspiring and entertaining evening of readings including poems that mark this year’s centenary of the Representation of the People Act, which first gave some women the right to vote. The poems will be read by actors who will be announced shortly.
Allie Esiri is the curator of live poetry events here at the National Theatre and at literature festivals including Hay, Bath and Cheltenham, co-creator of the iF Poems and The Love Book poetry apps, and editor of bestselling poetry anthologies A Poem for Every Night of the Year (Independent Bookshop Week Award 2017) and A Poem for Every Day of the Year.
