An unashamedly Cambridge event that reveals the untold stories of the remarkable women known as the Cambridge 'bedders'. Catherine Seymour, who comes from generations of bedders, or 'housekeepers' in Cambridge University Colleges, introduces us to a host of characters from the 1920s to the present day, whose lives on the hallowed stone staircases bridged the divide between Town and Gown. In conversation with Leigh Chambers, writer and broadcaster, she tells the story of The Staircase Girls

Catherine Seymour was born in Barnwell, Cambridge, and comes from generations of bedders. Encouraged by her nana, Nance, she became the first woman in her family to attend university. After a career in television as a documentary maker, she now teaches drama in Cambridgeshire.
