Kenneth Clark’s 1970s landmark TV series Civilisation changed lives. It brought new audiences to museums and art galleries and made culture and history accessible to millions. The BBC is currently remaking that landmark series under the title Civilisations – a new, more global exploration of art and history for a new generation. In a fascinating new talk with film clips David Olusoga, one of the three presenters of the new series, asks: can TV still do that magical thing of bringing people to a place where they believe history and art is for them? Can television still do what Kenneth Clark did and change lives?

David Olusoga is a British-Nigerian historian, broadcaster and BAFTA award-winning presenter and filmmaker. His previous books include The Kaiser's Holocaust and The World's War. He was also a contributor to The Oxford Companion to Black British History.
