Two of this country's most well-respected scholars, Robert Service and Stephen Smith, remember the Russian Revolution of March 1917 in this, its centenary year. "
"The Windrush Quartet will play a short repertoire of Russian music from the period. "
"In March 1917, Nicholas II, the last Tsar of all the Russias, abdicated. Now, on the hundredth anniversary of the revolution, Robert Service, the eminent historian of Russia, examines Nicholass reign, in his new book, The Last of the Tsars. He examines his reign in the year before his abdication and the months between that momentous date and his death, with his family, in Ekaterinburg in July 1918. "
"He will be joined by Stephen Smith, author of Russia in Revolution for a discussion and debate. He presents a panoramic account of the history of the Russian empire. Drawing on evidence from newly opened Russian archives and recent scholarship.
