Several decades in, the 'Mindfulness Revolution' (Time magazine) is well underway and we might do well take stock. The Mindful Nation Report (UK Government, 2015), has called for an across-the-board introduction of Mindfulness in the healthcare system, education, the workplace and the criminal justice system. As Mindfulness becomes more mainstream it is triggering a critical backlash in the media. Simultaneously it is being practised by everyone - from the armed forces, the UK Parliament, single parents and golfers, to school children and those managing their mental health. Our keynote speakers – Sharon Salzberg, Rick Hanson, Vidyamala Burch, Paul Gilbert and Lama Yeshe Rinpoche - will pick up on these themes in order to explore the frontiers of Mindfulness and the unique dilemmas that are being thrown up at this tipping point moment in history. The conference begins at 7pm (evening meal at 6pm) on the Thursday evening and will run between 8am and 8.30pm on Friday and Saturday. The conference will finish at 3pm on Sunday afternoon.

Sharon Salzberg has been a student of Buddhism since 1971, and leading meditation retreats worldwide since 1974. She teaches both intensive awareness practice (vipassana or insight meditation) and the profound cultivation of lovingkindness and compassion (the Brahma Viharas). She is a co-founder of the Insight Meditation Society in Barre, Massachusetts and The Barre Center for Buddhist Studies. She is a regular contributor to The Huffington Post and is also the author of several other books including the New York Times Best Seller, Real Happiness: The Power of Meditation: A 28-Day Program (2010).
