Joe Wicks' top three tips to get lean
We sat down with Joe for a quick-fire Q&A in advance of the publication of his second book, Lean in 15: The Shape Plan.
Joe Wicks, AKA The Body Coach, has helped thousands of people to transform their bodies. Here, he shares his top three tips to get lean.
What are your top 3 tips to get lean?
1) Prep like a boss!
The key to success is in the planning – my mantra is ‘prep like a boss!' which means taking time out to think about your meals and exercise for the week and prepare everything you need in advance, from food shopping through to cooking. If you do this you're so much more likely to stay on track.
2) Throw away the sad step
Stay off the sad step! Seriously, do not weigh yourself, it'll only make you feel miserable. The biggest mistake people make is to eat well, exercise hard and then weigh themselves, to find little difference on the scales. They get demotivated and slip back into bad habits. I tell all my clients to throw away the sad step and instead take before and after photos of themselves. Take photos every four weeks and you'll see a massive difference. Remember, muscle weighs more than fat, so using the scales isn't a truthful indicator.
3) Keep hydrated
So so many people don't drink enough water, which is crazy considering we are mostly made of the stuff! I recommend glugging 2 to 4 litres of water a day, it seems a lot, but it is vital and will help regulate everything from hormones to temperature to skin. Bring on the H2O!
What is your favourite meal?
Oooh I love a bit of melted cheese and you can't go wrong with steak. The Philly Cheese and Jalapeno Steak recipe in Lean in 15: The Shape Plan is great . . .
