Andrés Cota Hiriart

Andrés Cota Hiriart is a zoologist, writer, science communicator and broadcaster. He is a biology graduate from Universidad Nacional Autonoma de Mexico with a Master’s in Science Communication from Imperial College London. He is the author of several books, including Fieras Familiares (shortlisted for the Asteroide Books prize in the Non-fiction category in 2022), El ajolote, Faunologías and the children's book Madam Cuc. His work has also been anthologized in various collections of essays, been translated to German and French, and has appeared in magazines such as Vice, Newsweek, Kulturaustausch, Letras libres, Revista de la Universidad and Gatopardo. He has been a fellow of the National Artists’ Network and a speaker at TEDx. He currently coordinates the Society of Anonymous Scientists, a public engagement initiative that takes science in to bars. He lectures in literature at Escuela Superior de Cine and is a TV and podcast host.
