This is an accessible way for children to gain an introduction to war poetry and the valuable insights it provides. Ponder over the poems and what they can teach us.
These two poets are well known not only for their poetry books for Children but also for the workshops they run in schools, libraries and at festivals. So they are extremely well qualified to create these poems about war for young readership.
This contemporary collection provides a lyrical insight into the poetry of war, most evident in some of Brian Moses' poems about the First World War with their Larkin-esque evocation of lost youth and misplaced optimism.
The range of everyday voices that inhabit poems makes the poetry accessible which enables the young reader to grasp something of the nature of these terrible events for themselves.
