Emil Sands
Emil Sands is an artist and writer from London, currently living in New York. He studied at Central Saint Martins before going onto a BA in Classics at Christ’s College, Cambridge. He then studied Classics and Ancient Art at MPhil level at Christ’s, with a thesis entitled The Limits of Masculinity in Second Century AD Imperial Portraiture. He was awarded the Henry Fellowship to study at Yale University, where he enrolled in both the Yale School of Art and Writing. He has exhibited his art internationally and was recently included in the 2026 Artsy’s Vanguard, a list of ten young artists shaping the contemporary art scene. At the age of twenty-four, Sands published his personal essay, Struck On One side, in The Atlantic which forms the basis of his first book, I Am Not Achilles.
