Meet the Bluebird team
Publisher
Lizzy Gray
I'm the Publisher of Bluebird and One Boat. We are dedicated to thoughtful commercial non-fiction that offers clear solutions, value concepts or empowering stories to help audiences live better and happier lives. Empathy lies at the heart of our work. I oversee the tight-knit Bluebird and One Boat team while also acquiring and editing a handful of my own books.
I joined Pan Macmillan after eleven years at Ebury, Penguin Random House, where I was Deputy Publisher and published global authors including Yotam Ottolenghi, Samin Nosrat, Bored of Lunch, Caroline de Maigret, Claudia Roden, Paloma Faith and Yungblud, and launched a wellbeing imprint, Happy Place Books, in partnership with broadcaster Fearne Cotton. Before PRH, I worked at HarperCollins and Simon & Schuster.

Associate Publisher
Jodie Lancet-Grant (she/her)
I acquire books for the Bluebird and One Boat lists across our all our key areas, with particular interest in personal development, memoir, health and big ideas with practical applications.
I love expansive, life-enriching self help, and am always on the lookout for authors with a great platform and a gift for communicating their ideas. Authors I have published include Sunday Times bestsellers Dr Hazel Wallace, Sociopath author Patric Gagne, and comedian Suzi Ruffell.
Before moving into the Editorial team, I was the Communications Director for Bluebird, and I bring that commercial and marketing expertise, together with my writing experience as a children's author outside of Pan Mac, to all the projects I publish.

Publishing Director
Emily Robertson (she/her)
As the Publishing Director at Bluebird, I bring over a decade of experience from Penguin Life (PRH), where I spearheaded global successes like Meik Wiking’s The Little Book of Hygge and built major health brands with Dr Rangan Chatterjee and Dr Megan Rossi.
My career, which began at Yellow Kite (Hachette), has been defined by an ability to spot emerging trends and build long-term brands authors. Most recently, I directly commissioned Jess Urlich’s poetry collection, which sold over 100k copies in its first year.
I currently commission for the Bluebird and One Boat imprints across health, modern spirituality, personal development, and inspirational poetry. I’m less interested in following trends and more interested in the authors and ideas that define them. My approach to publishing is deeply collaborative; I pride myself on working closely with authors to hone their message, connect with and grow their audience, and ensure every book is published with integrity, heart and commercial vision.

Managing Editor
Martha Burley (she/her)
I manage the creative teams on our colour cookery list, as well as working across our diet, health and parenting list. My specialism is cookery, so I work closely with authors, designers, photographers and editors working on our cookbooks. I also commission in the areas of food, drink and diet. Recent commissions include Healthy in One by fitness creator Meg Robinson and a forthcoming cookbook from Dr Emily Prpa.
I love dynamic cookbooks that offer simple (and delicious) ideas for cooking every day – whether they empower readers to eat more healthily, live more sustainably or try a new technique or cuisine.
I have been part of the Bluebird team since 2016.

Editorial Director
Hockley Raven Sloane (she/her)
Since joining the team in 2016, I have worked across the Bluebird list editing and project managing titles through every stage of a book's life. I commission across the Bluebird list with an additional focus on our sustainability imprint, One Boat. I'm looking for authors whose ideas shed new light on areas that have the potential to change lives – through practical tips, information or lived experience. Our list has a shared sense of compassion, empathy and community. Readers will close a Bluebird book with a renewed feeling of connection to others, themselves or the natural world.

Publicity Director
Amy Winchester (she/her)
As Head of Publicity for Bluebird and One Boat, I plan and deliver year-round campaigns for our brand authors, as well as shaping corporate PR strategy for the imprints. I have worked in book and publishing comms for 12 years, most recently in-house at HarperCollins and Unbound.

Editor
Cara Waudby-Tolley (she/her)
I joined the Bluebird team in 2023 and work alongside all of the editors as I begin commissioning. I'm interested in thoughtful non-fiction that inspires and brings new ideas to light, with a particular interest in nature writing, personal development, self help, memoir and illustrated gift.
Whatever the subject, I love books that connect us, share practical advice and tell stories we may not have heard before.

Editorial Manager
Katy Greenwood (she/her)
I work across the Bluebird and One Boat lists on both the colour illustrated and mono books, shepherding each one through the editorial process. I also oversee processes and systems for the team as a whole.

Head of Marketing
Sian Gardiner (she/her)
As Bluebird's marketer, I plan and deliver creative campaigns for our titles with the aim of bringing them to the attention of as many readers as possible. These campaigns run across all media platforms, everywhere from social media to outdoor advertising. I also run Bluebird's social media channels, showcasing our books and building the Bluebird community.

Communications Director
Dawn Burnett
I joined as Communications Director at the beginning of 2025, having previously worked at HarperCollins, Simon & Schuster and Ebury Press where I specialised in non-fiction book marketing. I now lead the marketing and publicity teams for Bluebird and One Boat and am responsible for delivering stand-out campaigns for our publications. It is my job to understand audiences, think about what will make readers pick up our books and find the most effective ways to reach them.
I love cookbooks and can regularly be found in the kitchen baking while listening to an audiobook of anything from a deliciously gossipy memoir to a political polemic. I am also passionate about making the publishing industry truly inclusive, with a particular focus on social mobility.

Senior Marketing Executive
Alexandra Watkins (she/her)
As Senior Marketing Executive I am dedicated to connecting readers with books that deliver joy, meaning, and purpose. By leveraging innovative and strategic multi-platform campaigns, I ensure our titles reach the right audience with the right messaging at the right time. Since joining Bluebird in 2025, I've brought my marketing expertise from diverse industries along with a passion for books, as showcased on my own book page.

Publicity Manager
Ellie Auton
I joined Bluebird at the beginning of 2026 after working for four and a half years at Penguin Random House, at Vintage and Ebury. In my role I plan and execute impactful, year-long PR campaigns across both the Bluebird and One Boat lists; securing press, organising events and working with authors to ensure their work reaches as many people as possible. I specialise in non-fiction publicity and have led a mixture of high-profile celebrity campaigns, Sunday Times bestseller literary non-fiction campaigns and creative cookery campaigns. I've been shortlisted twice in The Publishers' Publicity Circle Awards and was Highly Commended in the 'Best Newcomer' category in 2023.

Editorial Assistant
Emily Gilbert (she/her)
I joined Pan Macmillan in 2026, previously working in International Comms at PRH. I work with the Bluebird and One Boat editorial team.
I love thought-provoking non-fiction that offers fresh perspectives and inspires positive change – spanning self development, memoir, lifestyle, the environment and more.

Communications Assistant
Hannah Bolton
As Communications Assistant for Bluebird and One Boat, I support the publicity and marketing teams across a range of campaigns, helping connect readers with books that inspire, inform and entertain. I love being involved in bringing our books and authors to life through events, media and marketing activity. Since joining Bluebird in 2025, I have enjoyed creating organic social content for our channels, and am excited to begin leading my own campaigns! Before joining Pan Macmillan I worked as a Social Media Assistant for a celebrity chef, which sparked my passion for cookery content and social media marketing, and also led me to discover the world of non-fiction publishing
