Synopsis
He was her husband for one day. Then he disappeared.
Twelve years ago, Carrie married Johan on a beach in Thailand. But as the sun set on their perfect day, police swarmed the island and her husband was arrested for crimes unknown. Johan refused to speak to Carrie, and was sentenced to life in prison. She never saw him again.
Now, Carrie is settled in the English countryside with her new husband, Robin, and their six-year-old twins. Her life is safe, stable, and built on the belief that Johan was a criminal who betrayed her.
But when she stumbles upon an online post, she realises Johan is out of prison – has been free for years. The man who promised Carrie a lifetime of love is now a mystery she must solve, even if it means risking her marriage, her family, and the life she fought so hard to build.
How did Johan escape a life sentence? Why did no one ever tell her? And what really happened on that beach, so many years ago?
The truth, it turns out, is more devastating than any lie . . .
