Synopsis
'There is a certain star I like above all others. It is named after us. It’s called the Dog Star, and shines brighter than any other. If you are ever lost, look for the star. It will guide you home'
This is the story of a loveable mixed breed dog named Burke who, shortly after he is born, misunderstands something his mother tells him, leading him to believe that he - like all other dogs - is immortal. Only, as we know, that's not true. In fact, in a cruel twist of fate, dogs tend to lead much shorter lives than their human counterparts. So, what happens when a dog like Burke finds out that he is not immortal as he was first led to believe?
It sends him on a journey to understand the power of hope, of joy, and the heavy weight of grief. The book follows Burke as he moves from one home to another, trying to find a place to belong. And when he finally does, he is given the ultimate task: find his person, someone to love before Burke expires from this Earth.
(Burke, as it turns out, is a bit of a drama queen.)
The Stars Look Like Home is a novel of found family, of finding happiness in the unlikeliest of places and fighting with all your might to keep it and above all this is a love story for our four legged friends.
