Peter James is the author of over forty books, and is particularly known for his crime thrillers featuring Detective Superintendent Roy Grace, which have been adapted into a hit ITV series, Grace, starring John Simm. Queen Camilla counts herself a fan of his work, recently naming Grace as her favourite fictional detective and appearing as a character in the 2025 addition to the series, The Hawk Is Dead. James has won more than forty awards, including the WHSmith Best Crime Author of All Time Award in 2015, and the Crime Writers’ Association Diamond Dagger, in 2016. He has twice chaired the Crime Writers' Association and has also been the programming chair for the renowned Theakston's Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival.
