Lucy Jane Wood's books: a guide to the author of Rewitched and Uncharmed
YouTube star Lucy Jane Wood, author of cosy, feel-good reads including new novel Disenchanted, introduces her writing, followed by our guide to her books so far.

Writing in lots of forms has always been a huge part of my life, from writing strange spin-offs of my favourite books in my bedroom, to stumbling into freelance entertainment journalism after university and pulling YouTube video scripts together. Writing books was always my ultimate dream, but I’m not sure I ever believed I’d actually do it until one day in 2020, when the idea for Rewitched popped into my head.
It perfectly mirrored how I was feeling at the time. I was struggling with the feeling that I’d lost my own spark, so the image of a witch having to prove that she was worthy of keeping her neglected magic felt like something I simply had to write. Three years later, I’d finally finished my first book and completely fallen in love with creating cosy fantasy stories inspired by the 90s witches that I loved growing up like Sabrina, Hocus Pocus and The Worst Witch.
All three of my books, Rewitched, Uncharmed and Disenchanted, are standalone stories set in the witchy world of Selcouth coven. They’re written to turn my beloved nostalgia for the golden age of pop culture witches into stories that feel relevant and relatable as a thirty-something today. I hope that everything I ever create, whether it’s a whole novel or a simple social media video, can provide comfort, reassurance, whimsy, and just a little bit of everyday magic.
Rewitched
by Lucy Jane Wood
The cosy contemporary fantasy that started it all. When Lucy revealed she'd written a novel, Rewitched flew to number one on the Amazon book chart on pre-orders alone. And it turns out you can believe the hype: if you're looking for witches, found family and an autumnal atmosphere, this is the book for you. Balancing work at her beloved Lunar Books and concealing her witchcraft from the non-witches around her has left Belle burnt out. But when her thirtieth birthday brings a summons from her coven, Belle risks losing her magic forever. With the month of October to fix things, and signs that dark forces may be working against her, Belle will need all the help she can get – from the women in her life, from an unlikely mentor figure, and even an (infuriating) watchman who’s sworn to protect her.
Uncharmed
by Lucy Jane Wood
Lucy's second book is set in the same world as Rewitched, but is a standalone novel. Andromeda Wildwood runs a magical London bakery and prides herself on doing everything flawlessly – even if it drains her powers. When she’s tasked with mentoring a troubled teenage witch and forced into close quarters with a gruff cottage owner, Annie’s carefully controlled world begins to unravel. As outside threats close in, she must decide whether perfection is worth the cost. Brimming with baked goods, woodland charm and hard-won self-acceptance, this is a tender story about embracing the messiness of life.
Disenchanted
by Lucy Jane Wood
Lucy Jane Wood's new book follows Sage Hemlock, who wants nothing more to do with magic, preferring the quiet company of the museum she runs, her library and her cat. But when a mysterious historical book unleashes a curse, fairy tales begin spilling into real life – including a beanstalk in her garden and a co-worker who suddenly looks suspiciously like a handsome prince. With the coven closing in on the source of the curse, Sage must embrace the powers she has spent years denying and unravel the book’s secrets before everyone she loves is trapped in a story without a happily ever after. This is the perfect choice for those in the mood for more witchy stories after seeing Practical Magic 2.
