Our favourite children's book series

Finished The Chronicles of Narnia, Harry Potter and Diary of a Wimpy Kid? Here's what to turn to next.

Find a book series your child loves and you've really hit a winner. With worlds and characters they know they like and will want to return to, series are a great way of building the reading habit and encouraging reading for pleasure. It's no surprise that, as adults, the books we remember most from our childhood are often series. Whether we were drawn to the daring adventures of the Baudelaire siblings in A Series of Unfortunate Events, or the magic and mischief of The Worst Witch, these were the books we picked up over and over again.

As well as the classics we all remember, there are so many brilliant new children's book series out there, for all ages, ready to be read and loved by children and adults alike. From the eco-adventures of Greenwild to the mystery-busting InvestiGators, here are just a few of our favourites.

It's never too early to start reading to little ones. These two series invite the youngest of readers to join storytime with flaps to lift and other interactive elements.
