Hanya Yanagihara's powerful novel,  A Little Life, has been shortlisted for the Bailey's Women Prize for Fiction 2016.

The 2016 Chair of Judges Margaret Mountford said of this year’s shortlist: “Our choices reflect a really diverse mix of brilliant writing from new and established authors around the world and we hope that everyone will find much to enjoy in them.”

Also on the shortlist:

Cynthia Bond – Ruby
Anne Enright – The Green Road
Lisa McInerney – The Glorious Heresies
Elizabeth McKenzie – The Portable Veblen
Hannah Rothschild – The Improbability of Love

The winner will be announced on Wednesday 8th June.
