In Place of Death by Craig Robertson – We’re huge fans of thrillers by the world class crop of top Scottish crime writers. Robertson’s Rachel Narey / Tony Winter series is one of the best in an outstanding field and this latest case follows a murder investigation in Glasgow, set in the shadows of the intriguing world of urban exploration.
Showtime: Magic, Kareem, Riley, and the Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty of the 1980s – by Jeff Perlman – This is part pleasure, part research for the next novel in our Hollywood series.
After You by Jojo Moyes – the sequel to the wonderful, funny, poignant and heartbreaking Me Before You.
And we have just read…. The Santangelos by Jackie Collins. We have both been devotees of Jackie’s books for decades, and later, Ross became firm friends with Jackie in LA. When we set out to write our first novel together, Taking Hollywood, we knew that we wanted to evoke the glamour and decadence of the worlds drawn by our idols: Jackie, Sidney Sheldon and Harold Robbins. In fact, Jackie was the first to read our finished manuscripts for both books and we were happy beyond belief when she gave them her seal of approval. We even dedicated Taking Hollywood to her. “To Jackie Collins, with love, respect and gratitude for the inspiration.”
Over the last two years she has been fantastically supportive and encouraging to us. There will never be another like her. The Santangelos is utterly brilliant, a new and intoxicating episode in the life of her greatest creation, Lucky. It’s classic Jackie, and an irrevocable, kick ass reminder that there will never be another like her.
